Offering “stylistic gravitas, plenty of premium touches throughout its cabin, performance chops to rival the best in class and a modest … starting sticker price,” the 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan was recently named among the country’s Top 10 Luxury Cars for under $40,000. That’s per the experts at KBB.com, who also called the Genesis “a luxury bargain that’s hard to beat.”
What’s all the fuss about? Well, the Genesis is available starting from just $34,200, and it delivers superior standard appointments such as:
  • Sophisticated wood- and metal-grain interior accents
  • A leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio and cruise controls
  • Rear-seat climate vents
  • Electric push-button start
  • A seven-speaker AM/FM/CD/XM/MP3 sound system
  • Leather seating, including an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support and memory
  • Heated front seats
  • Projector-style headlamps and front fog lamps
  • An eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Acoustic laminated glass
  • 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels
  • Safety measures like anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, electronic stability control, and traction control
In addition, the Genesis rides on a technologically advanced suspension with SACHS’ Amplitude Selective Damping for a particularly smooth and capable ride, while benefiting from significant upgrades to its exterior design and powertrain lineup for 2012. Now wrapped in more aggressive and expressive sheet metal, the Genesis offers drivers either a 3.8-liter V6 engine with direct injection, 333 hp and 29 mpg or—in the new high-performance Genesis 5.0 R-Spec—a direct-injected 5.0-liter V8 capable of 429 hp.
That makes it the most powerful production engine that Hyundai has ever offered.
