While a lot has changed for Hyundai in the past few years, one important constant has been the company’s commitment to delivering value. In fact, in the recently releasedStrategic Vision 2012 Total Value Index, Hyundai had three separate category winners—in three of the country’s most important segments—and it finished in second-place overall in the hotly anticipated third-party value study. This year’s Index was based on input from some 77,153 vehicle owners, who had purchased/leased their new vehicles in the period from September 2011 to June 2012.
The brand’s segment-leading entries included:
- Hyundai Elantra Sedan—Facing ferocious competition from the likes of the Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Chevy Cruze and Toyota Corolla, the Elantra earned its accolades in the Small Car class.
- Hyundai Sonata—The Sonata led the way in the family-friendly Mid-Size Car category, against rivals such as the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord and Ford Fusion.
- Hyundai Equus—Boasting the highest score in the entire survey was the Equus, also the No. 1 choice in the Luxury Car segment.
(Note: Technically speaking, Strategic Vision’s silver medal went to the Hyundai Motor Group, which owns both the Hyundai and Kia brands; the latter earned two category wins in the Total Value Index, for the Kia Sportage and Kia Sorento.)
