Each year, automotive expert Jack Gillis and the Center for Auto Safety—a leading U.S. advocacy group for vehicle safety—analyzes the latest crop of cars and trucks to determine the “Best Bets” for superior performance in terms of factors like crash-test performance, warranty coverage, fuel economy and insurance costs. The goal is to help consumers make smart and sensible choices when buying a new vehicle, and, for 2012, Hyundai has scored with three different choices getting that honor.
“We appreciate the fact that Hyundai has made a significant contribution to improving the market choices for the American car buyer,” said Gillis, author of The Car Book, in which the results are published. “During these most challenging times for the auto industry, the fact that Hyundai vehicles have the quality and features most important to today’s car buyer is a testament to their desire to meet customer needs.”
Hyundai’s winners:
  • Hyundai Accent—Capable of 40 mpg highway and also recently honored with MotorWeek’s 2012 Drivers’ Choice Award as Best Subcompact of the year.
  • Hyundai Sonata—Another 2012 MotorWeek honoree, as well as a 2012 Greener Choice of the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy and the top-rated Mid-Size Car in KBB.com’s 2012 Total Cost of Ownership Awards.
  • Hyundai Tucson—With improved fuel economy for the 2012 model year, Tucson is a member of KBB.com’s 2012 Best Resale Value top-10 list.
“Having three Hyundai models named as ‘Best Bets’ by The Car Book highlights our continued effort to deliver quality vehicles across the entire Hyundai lineup,” said Scott Margason, director of Product Planning for Hyundai Motor America. “The Accent, Sonata and Tucson all deliver advanced technology, design and fuel economy while continuing to exceed customer expectations in value, performance and safety.”
