Santa Fe Sport Makes off with Top Utility Award in Miami

Call it synchronicity: The Miami International Auto Show featured a brand-new award during its 2012 run—“Utility Vehicle of the Show”—and the victory went to a brand-new vehicle—the 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport.
“The Santa Fe Sport is precisely the right size with optimum accessories for today’s market. It’s a superb vehicle for the price,” reported Ron Beasley, who is a member of the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA) and a judge for this year’s awards.
That price is an affordable $24,450 and includes standard features like a six-speed SHIFTRONIC automatic transmission, class-exclusive selectable steering technology, 17-inch alloy wheels, second-row climate vents, a six-speaker sound system and Hyundai’s Blue Link telematics system. Also notable is that the price of admission to the Santa Fe Sport includes a steadily growing list of accolades in addition to the one earned in Miami, including a 2012 Active Lifestyle Vehicle Award, the top prize in the compact-crossover category in this year’s Texas Truck Rodeo, and Top Safety Pick status from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

And don’t forget, early next year, the five-passenger Santa Fe Sport will be joined at Hyundai dealerships by the all-new seven-seat Santa Fe itself, expanding the brand’s crossover lineup even further.
