Already on a record-setting sales pace for 2012, it now looks like Hyundai has the inside track to even more success. After all, it was the only brand with more than one vehicle on the recent honor roll of Ward’s 2012 10 Best Interiors: Both the Hyundai Azera and the Hyundai Accent.
According to the judges, “The Azera serves notice to luxury brands everywhere that Hyundai aspires to be known for much more than great value,” yet as Ward’s points out, it offers that, too. Its MSRP of $36,875 includes standard appointments like a leather interior with heated and cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a panoramic roof, nine airbags, best-in-class front-seat head and leg room, navigation, a rearview backup camera, a cooled glove box, dual automatic climate controls with rear-seat vents, rear- and side-window privacy shades, and the Hyundai Blue Link telematics platform.
Similarly, the Accent also offers a notably impressive level of cabin comfort at a particularly high-value price. In fact, after seeing that the car’s as-tested sticker price of $15,925, Ward’s “double-checked for a typo because this interior shows incredible attention to detail, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, swooping lines on the instrument panel and many of the Hyundai-family center-stack elements that have made interiors such as the Elantra, Veloster and Sonata so appealing.”
And the Accent also represents a Ward’s double play for Hyundai, since its high-efficiency 1.6-liter powerplant—delivering both best-in-class power and fuel-economy ratings—was named to Ward’s 10 Best Engines list.
