- New i30 1.4 Mpi - Comfort+Adv.pack - xenon 6000k
The new i30 has wasted no time in putting some silverware in the Hyundai trophy cabinet. Hyundai has a well-deserved reputation for its excellent customer service and has always made cars that offer supreme value for money, but the i30 is different.
Here is a family hatchback that can rival the very best cars in the class, without relying on its generous warranty to be competitive. Its smartly-styled exterior is matched by an equally attractive interior that's chock-full of high quality materials, classy switchgear and kit.
Even entry-level Classic trim includes Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition, a multi-function steering wheel, LED daytime running lamps and air conditioning. Top of the range models feature a touchscreen sat-nav and rear parking guidance system.
A decent boot and spacious cabin underscore its family friendly credentials, and the i30 drives well, too. Traditionally this is where Hyundai has struggled to match its mainstream rivals, but the i30 is a fine all-rounder, mixing long distance comfort with accurate steering and a light and positive gearshift. Only the firm suspension at low-speeds lets the side down.
A wide selection of engines means there should be an i30 for every taste. It includes a trio of economical diesels and a pair of petrols. The mid-range 1.6-litre CRDi diesel produces 108bhp and emissions from as low as 97g/km. It is arguably the pick of the range, and it's also exempt from road tax. The more powerful 126bhp 1.6 CRDi is faster and still registers claimed economy of 74.3mpg, so whichever model you choose, efficiency comes as standard. And don’t forget the five-year/100,000 mile warranty and RAC cover
